More cycling in Provence

I can see why people love cycling in France!

From Moustiers, we cycled to a town on a hill; Forcalquier. Was fairly easy ride through lavender and wheat fields: Lonely Planet promised golden wheat fields and fragrant lavender... but it is too early for either: the wheat is still green and the lavender is not in flower. but the poppys! more than compensate... whole fields of them

We stopped at a town called Manosque at 50km and had lunch in the square, with a not-great busker as background music. Byrdie bought a pastry and was pleased as punch when the guy gave her a whole bag of mini pastrys!

We got our bikes serviced in Forcalquier... the bike shop guy seemed a bit shocked at how worn my brake pads were and I got them all replaced. note this is after going down steep wet roads by huge cliffs on a fully loaded bike...

Today we followed the Luberon Bike Route from Forcalquier to Apt. The route winds through narrow roads that we have all to ourselves. The actual distance ended up being 20km longer than if we went by main roads, but probably much more fun... more poppys, stone houses with bright shutters.... oh and there are lots of cherry trees, with ripe cherrys! yum

Byrdie has being doing some short videos on her camera.... see her blog http://www.kiwicyclist.blogspot.com/ to see them. some of them do end up being like a verbal blog and she talks about all the food we`ve eaten that day (I don`t know which ones are going up)

Oh and some sad news; I wore my glass pendant from Venice the first time this afternoon and it somehow fell off. onto concrete and smashed into pieces. :(
