yesterday we cycled to Luzern. seemed like a pretty town. unfortunately by the time we went to one campsite and was told it was full (a first for us and a reminder that the summer peak seâson is here), then cycled back through town to the other campground, we were both too tired to cycle the 5 km or so back to town...
today we continued on the cycle route.Unfortunatêly the weather forecast was accurate: rain.
National cycle route 9 certainly is interesting cycling. always a forest and/or lake and/or river and/or large mountains. todays route was interesting in a not so good way. steep gravel or rock tracks, which were impossible to ride. we had to push our bikes a lot. I don't know what the route organisers were thinking. the track was suitable for the long distance walking route and the mountain bike route but not for touring cyclists.
It started raining more heavily when we stopped for a break in a town. first we sheltered under a tree, then moved to a train station... finally we set off again. definitely know its raining hard when glasses hard to see out of with fog and rain drops. sunscreen dissolves into white sludge and stings eyes. everything drenched.
staying at hostel tonight. not too much more expensive than camping...
