Austria

We arrived in Salsburg by train and stayed two nights at a campground. Salsburg is a lovely town, famous for being home of Mozart (Mozart souvenirs everywhere) and less so for the real sound of music family.

I went to both Mozart musuems. The first (his birthplace) was weird. Artist designed rooms with themes. eg. baby room with model baby with adult Mozart head, upside down room... not informative. The second musuem (Mozart family residence) was good.

We then spent 4 days cycling, doing almost 400km through the Salzammergut region and up to cesky krumlov in czech. Cycling was relatively easy after Switzerland and weather was nice... getting hot though.

Salzammergut region was beautiful. We stayed in Hallstart, which is right on a dramatic lake.

Then headed north through Bad Aussee, which wasn't bad. then through Blaa Alms which wasn't blah. quite stunning gorge actually. Rocky route down. Mountain bikers seemed suprised to see us with fully loaded bikes...

The next night was near Gmunden, camping beside another stunning lake. Then the final night in Linz.

Love the names...
