Goodbye Hong Kong. For now.

We are at Hong Kong airport. About to go to Taiwan. What a mission to check our bikes in... managed to convince them in the end that having a plastic bag around them was sufficient. We had to let the air out of the tyres though. and sign a disclaimer.

I loved Hong Kong as a stopover. I think 3 nights was enough to get a pretty good feel for the place. I don't know if I'd want to live here - just don't think i'm a BIG city sort of girl.

saw some interesting sights. yesterday morning we went to the bird garden. which is actually a bird market. cages and cages crammed with pet birds for sale. the poor birds don't really have much space to move. And little old men had their pet birds in cages out to socialise with the other ones.

This morning we had the alarm set for 8am to give us enough time to catch a bus to the airport. Of course Byrdie is up and about at 6am. rustle, rustle. crash. bang. so we went for an early morning wander at 7am and ate some food and spent the rest of our money (HK$30 = NZ$6) - quite cool how much we got for that. And my alarm went off while we were waiting for the bus, so we were way ahead of schedule.

Anyway... might eat the remainder of the food that we purchased this morning.
and see what byrdie is writing on her blog....
